- The Cat Who… series by Lilian Jackson Braun – Quirky journalist + clue-hunting cats in a nostalgic small town. Another series with several books—29 in all.
- Miss Marple series by Agatha Christie – The blueprint of the cozy genre, full of sharp observations and social commentary. A 12-book series that will keep you coming back for more.
? Culinary & Cozy
- The Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke – A baker with a knack for solving murders (and sharing cookie recipes). The first of 30 books in the Hannah Svenson Mystery series and one of the first cozy mysteries I ever read…near and dear to my heart.
- Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chien – Cozy with a cultural twist, full of family dynamics and food cravings. (Eleven books in Noodle Shop Mysteries).
- A Catered Murder by Isis Crawford – Two sisters run a catering business and stumble on more than just recipes. (Nineteen books in the Mystery with Recipes series).
- Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala – Food, family, and fierce friendships in a Filipino-American setting. This one is on my current TBR list and is the first in the six-book Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mysteries series.
- A Sprinkle of Murder by Jenn McKinlay – Cupcake bakery + best friend banter + murder = classic cozy combo. (Sixteen books in the Cupcake Bakery Mysteries…I’m hungry already, hehe.)

- Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto – Part farce, part murder mystery, full of heart and hijinks. (Three books in the Aunties series).
- The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman – A British cozy mystery —four pensioners solve murders in their retirement community. (A five-book series).
? Small-Town Academics/Retro Mysteries
- The Peculiar Case of the Petersburg Professor by Sharon Kay (you didn’t think I’d leave this one out, did you? hehe)…A college student in the 1970s and her friends delve into the world of murder investigations, uncovering small-town secrets and a plethora of scandals. (Three books in The Michelle Kilpatrick Mysteries—book four is in the works.)
- Criminals on Campus by Susan Harper – A country girl, a big city, and a miniature goat. It’s no mystery that there’s gonna be trouble. Especially for the criminals. (Country Girl in the Big City Cozy is a twelve-book series.)
- Secrets at Sutherland Hall: A 1920s Murder Mystery by Jenna Bennett – Bright Young Thing Philippa Darling, her cousin Christopher Astley, and his cousin Crispin, Viscount St. George, solve murders and cause mayhem in England in the 1920s (Currently seven books in the Pippa Darling Mysteries.)
